Pat Sajak Receives Standing Ovation on Official Return to 'Wheel of Fortune'

Attention everyone, Pat Sajak is officially back on “Wheel of Fortune!”

The 73-year-old host was greeted by audience members with a standing ovation on Monday night’s episode.

As people stood up, Sajak jokingly told the audience members to sit down. "I don't know whether you're happy to see me or if you're leaving because Vanna's not hosting,” Sajak said.

As Sajak was off earlier this month, his 25-year-old daughter turned letters. She joined veteran letter turner Vanna White, who filled in for Pat Sajak while he was recovering from surgery.

Producers asked Maggie Sajak to take on the job. During last week’s episodes, Vanna White said, "As you just heard, Pat will be back next week. In the meantime, I'm happy to fill in," White said at the start of Monday's show. "But, you know, I could do this even better, hosting the show with a Sajak. Everyone, please welcome Pat's daughter, Maggie Sajak."

Before the game started, Maggie made sure to remind viewers that this wasn't her first time on the set. Maggie made her first appearance on the show when she was just one year old when her proud father introduced her to the audience.

Back in December, Sajak opened up about his recent health crisis. In an exclusive interview with “Good Morning America,” Sajak shared that he was back filming.

"I've actually felt ridiculously good for several weeks. I've been back in the studio actually, doing shows. Even spinning the wheel and, you know, nothing has popped. So I think it's OK," Sajak said.

The "Wheel of Fortune" host went on to explain the day he felt a "horrific pain" that turned out to be a blocked intestine. He said that if doctors didn't operate right away, he could have died.
