A nearly four-year pursuit of a woman tied to a fatal hit-and-run accident in Whittier is now over after she was extradited from Australia back to the U.S.

The incident happened in January 30, 2017 when the driver of a white Lexus sedan, Andrea Dorothy Chan Reyes, crashed into 46-year-old Agustin Rodriguez Jr. on his bicycle.

Rodriguez’s body was dragged under Reyes’ car for 500 to 800 feet. His body was found two blocks from the fatal crash.

Reyes’ car was discovered later in an Idaho garage and from there she fled to Hong Kong, and then eventually to Australia where she got married and was living when an international extradition order caught up to her and lead to a one year legal battle.

Thursday, Reyes was flown into Van Nuys Airport by U.S. Marshals. She was booked on 2 felony counts, hit-and- run driving resulting in death or serious injury and vehicular manslaughter.
