Luna, the 2-month-old kitten, was taken from Ismael Gourmet Deli. Suzie Pena was behind the counter when the thief came back with the cat in tow.

"Friend walked in with the cat, and he just showed me the cat, I went crazy," she said.

Bodega owner Ismael Diaz was overjoyed, because the theft had devastated his 10-year-old son Jonathan who is on the autism spectrum.

"It means the world to him, so you know by him having his cat back he's going to be so relieved," he said.

"I gave her some hugs, she's so cute," Jonathan said.

The cat thief said he couldn't stand all of the publicity his theft had attracted.
