NBA Free Agency: Warriors GM Confirms Kevin Durant Achilles Injury

By 95.7 THE GAME

Following the Warriors' 106-105 win in Game 5 on Monday night, Bob Myers, the club's GM/president of basketball ops, went to the podium to announce that Kevin Durant sustained an Achillies injury.

The full extent of the injury won't be known until Durant undergoes an MRI on Tuesday. Myers, fighting back tears, addressed the injury at an impromptu press conference. You can watch the video of the press conference above.

"I don't believe there's anyone to blame...if you have to, you can blame me."

An Achilles. If the MRI confirms it is torn, it is one of the toughest and longest rehabs there is when it comes to sports injuries.

The injury not only changes the trajectory of the NBA Finals, with the Warriors now needing to win two more games without their two-time NBA Finals MVP to win a third consecutive championship, but it has the potential to change the entire landscape of the NBA this offseason.

Kevin Durant is set to become a free agent. Rumors have been flying for months about the possibility of him moving on to several different teams, including the New York Knicks. Do teams previously interested changed their plans if his Achilles is torn and Durant's 2019-2020 season in jeopardy? Does Kevin Durant stay with Golden State?

This is an injury that will send shockwaves through the NBA.

Durant, meanwhile, who had already left the arena on crutches while wearing a walking boot, took to Instagram to share his feelings on the situation.
