Stephen Curry Of Golden State Warriors ‘Obviously Joking’ About Moon Landing Conspiracy Theory

SAN FRANCISCO (95.7 The Game) -- Steph was just playing.

Curry explained to ESPN on Wednesday afternoon that his comments questioning whether we’d really ever been to the moon were just a joke.

“Obviously I was joking when I was talking on the podcast," Curry said. "I was silently protesting how stupid it was that people actually took that quote and made it law as, 'Oh my God, he's a fake moon landing truther,' whatever you want to call it, yada, yada, yada. So I was silently protesting that part about it, how the story took a life of its own.”

He wasn’t joking about taking NASA up on the invite to a lunar lab, though.

"One thousand percent," Curry said of accepting the invite. "One thousand percent.”

The controversy began days prior with an exchange among Curry, Vince Carter, Kent Bazemore and Andre Iguodala on the “Winging It” podcast (around the 46:00 mark).

Curry: We ever to the moon?

Multiple responders: Nope.

Curry: They’re gonna come get us. I don’t think so, either.

For context, right before Curry made his remarks, Iguodala was making jokes about memes questioning how scientists know what dinosaurs sound like.
