At least 1 Louisville officer shot as protesters take to the streets over Breonna Taylor decision

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- At least one Louisville police officer was shot Wednesday night, officials confirmed, as demonstrators took to the city's downtown to protest a grand jury's decision in the fatal March police shooting of Breonna Taylor inside her apartment while she slept. 

The Louisville Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI both confirmed one officer had been shot, but according to local reports citing sources, two officers were shot.

"The FBI Louisville SWAT team has responded to an LMPD officer being shot and will continue to assist in the investigation," the FBI's Louisville field office tweeted at 9:02 p.m.

And a spokesman for the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department said in a brief statement, "We currently have an officer shot. We'll update when we can."

The Courier Journal newspaper reported that a source with knowledge of the situation said two officers had been shot, and their condition, as of 9 p.m., was unknown. Local CBS affiliated WLKY also reported that two officer had been shot. 

There is a curfew in effect from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
