The Los Angeles Lakers made a blockbuster deal over the weekend to acquire Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans to team up with LeBron James.
In the most recent episode of RADIO.COM’s “Big Time Basketball” podcast, co-hosts Brian Scalabrine and Matt Steinmetz ponder if the Lakers, with the addition of Davis, are the new favorites to win the NBA Finals next season.
“If you look at the NBA right now… especially with KD being out, (the Lakers) have — I’m not going to say they have the No. 1 and No. 2 best players in the NBA — but, as far as their guys, those two are probably the best combination in the league,” Scalabrine said.
As the Lakers position themselves to regain power in the Western Conference, it leaves many questions to be asked about the Golden State Warriors. Would the Lakers have made this trade if Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson were healthy? Should the Warriors max out both injured stars? How challenging will next year be for Stephen Curry?
Scalabrine and Steinmetz address all these topics and more.
