Carrie Underwood opened up about her life on the road with three-month-old Jacob and four-year-old Isaiah by her side. While it may seem crazy to perform and rehearse day in and day out with two kids in the mix, Underwood feels that she’s just like any other mom.
In an interview with TODAY, the “Love Wins” singer explained that you just do what you have to do as a mother. “Everything that we all do is difficult but in different ways,” she explains. “I know what it’s like to juggle, and that’s just what parents do.”
It’s all about support on the road when it comes to Underwood. When asked if her kids and husband Mike Fisher would be by her side for every step of the tour, Underwood responds, “Pretty much.” Aside from a few visits to relatives, the kids and Fisher will be on tour the whole time.
She continues with a playful comment, “Going out on the road with a three-month-old, I’m tired.” She elaborates, “But how many people get to do that? I’m so lucky.” While it can be hard for the songstress to live her life with a baby in one hand and a mic in the other, Underwood wouldn’t have it any other way.
The songstress has even set up play areas in her rehearsal spaces so the boys have room to spread out and do their thing. So is there another Underwood/Fisher baby in the works? "I'll have to evaluate after this tour is over. Then we can talk about what's next." She continues by saying, "There's no way you can plan for everything or make everything be the way you want it. So it's been good for me to just kind of be present, and live in the moment, and stop trying so hard to plan out the entire rest of my life.
In terms of the tour itself, Underwood is aiming for an inclusive and inspirational vibe for this round of performances. “I want people to leave feeling uplifted. We have a lot of positivity in the show,” she says. “I want little girls to come and sit in these seats and be inspired.”
It’s hard not to think about the kids when two of your biggest fans are under the age of 5!
