Cleveland (92.3 The Fan) - Super Bowl, Super Browns? If you're planning to put money down on that for the 2019 NFL season, you might want to think twice.
In Peter King's most recent Football Morning In America column published on Monday morning, Jeopardy sensation James Holzhauer called the Browns "the worst bet" in football.
"I can’t believe we live in a world where the Cleveland Browns are the most hyped team in the preseason," Jeopardy James said. "But I would say they’re probably the single worst bet to win the Super Bowl right now.”
Holzhauer is a professional sports gambler based out of Las Vegas who won more than $2 million during his 32-game run on Jeopardy earlier this year.
The Browns finished the 2018 season 7-8-1, but now have lofty expectations for 2019 with first-time head coach Freddie Kitchems, QB Baker Mayfield, and new offensive weapons Kareem Hunt and Odell Beckham Jr.
However, the Browns have not had a winning season since 2007, which is why Holzhauer sends caution.
“I would say that the big thing to avoid is look away from the teams that have all the hype surrounding them,” he told King.
Beckham Jr., who was acquired via trade in March from the Giants, recently told GQ “The Catch was cool. It was legendary, in a sense. But legendary is going to Cleveland and trying to win a championship.”
Browns Training Camp begins this Thursday in Berea.
