It’s finally official, Jennifer Lopez is a style legend.
The 49-year-old pop diva will be honored with the coveted Fashion Icon award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards later this year.
"From the infamous Versace dress, to her music videos that are cemented into pop culture world history, and to her myriad of iconic red-carpet moments, Lopez’s style has always been a standout,” the CFDA said in a statement. “Lopez also pioneered the business model of turning her beauty and style into that of a brand. Through her fashion, beauty, and fragrance lines, the Jennifer Lopez brand has to date grossed over a billion dollars.”
It’s been nearly 20 years since J.Lo first left the world shook by rocking the now-legendary plunging green Versace gown at the 2000 Grammys. It was the look that ignited a million internet queries and helped launch Google Image Search.
Just a few months later, Jenny from the block wowed the VMA red carpet in a blinged out, belly-baring all-white ensemble.
From there she never disappointed whether in a shimmering mini at the 2011 Grammys, dripping in diamonds at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards or giving us legs for days in a thigh-high slit at the 2018 Met Gala.
Lopez will be in good company as past winners of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award include Naomi Campbell, Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams, Johnny Depp and Rihanna.
To see what Lopez wears you’ll have to wait until June 3rd, when the CFDA awards take place at New York’s Brooklyn Museum.
