There was really only one dog in this fight.
Joey "Jaws" Chestnut continued his dominance at the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest on Thursday by dowining 71 hot dogs in 10 minutes to win his 12th title, finishing just shy of his record 74 hot dogs he ate in last year's contest.
"I feel like I should eat a couple of more," Chestnut said following his victory.
Chestnut, 33, smoked his competition, finishing well ahead of runner-up Darron Breeden, who devoured 50 dogs.
Miki Sudo won the women's competition by eating 31 hot dogs, falling short of her record of 37 hot dogs she set last year. It was her sixth consecutive title.
Chestnut and Sudo will each take home $10,000.
Chestnut has only lost once since competing in the annual Fourth of July event in 2007.
