John Travolta is no stranger to wigs, having donned them for roles in projects such as "Hairspray," and "Gotti and American Crime Story." But recently, the 65-year-old has shed the need for synthetic weaves and leaned into showing off his hairless scalp.
During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" alongside his daughter Ella Bleu, Travolta talked about his decision to go au natural and embrace his bald pride.
“Your hair was famous. You had a beautiful mane. You posted a picture of your bald head and it went viral,” guest host Lena Waithe said in regard to an Instagram snap the actor shared in January. “Were you expecting that?”
“No! It’s just a haircut,” Travolta responded. “The last time I went this viral was when I mispronounced Idina Menzel’s name at the Oscars,” he joked of his infamous 2014 blunder presenting at the ceremony.
When Waithe asked if he was nervous to go bald, Travolta added, “It’s so much easier. I did a movie called ‘From Paris with Love’ and I got used to it. So, it wasn’t a total shock.”
In addition, the "Saturday Night Fever" star received support for his makeover from one of his fellow bald celebrity pals.
“I became friends with Pitbull…He encouraged it as well and the family encouraged it." Dale!
Travolta’s new look also has the backing of one of his toughest critics, his teen daughter.
"I really like it a lot," the 19-year-old said beamingly. "I think it looks great."
Bald is beautiful!
