Well, that didn’t last long! Kim Kardashian’s new shapewear line, Kimono, will be getting a new name after the beauty mogul received major backlash for cultural appropriation.
Last week, Kardashian announced her new shapewear line on Instagram and Twitter, where she revealed a few of the first looks and the name of the brand, Kimono. Fans immediately flooded their feeds with comments, calling her out for her inappropriate use of the Japanese fashion.
One of the callouts came from a Japanese major, urging Kardashian to learn more about their culture.
Now, Kardashian has taken to Instagram with a solution to the backlash. In a lengthy post accompanying a photo of the star sporting her own shapewear line, Kardashian reveals that she will be changing the name of her new endeavor.
She commends her fans for giving her the information she needs as an entrepreneur to make smart decisions about her brands.
“What’s made it possible for me after all of these years has been the direct line of communication with my fans and the public,” she writes.
Sticking to her passion for inclusivity and diversity, she continues, “I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name. I will be in touch soon. Thank you for your understanding and support always.”
Kardashian has not yet revealed the new name of her line of shapewear, but fans are eager to learn what the new brand will be.
