While friends, family, and fans of Luke Perry continue to mourn his death, a beautiful detail about his burial sheds a little bit of hope on the heartbreaking situation.

Perry’s daughter, Sophie Perry, took to Instagram to reveal one of her father’s dying wishes – to be buried in a 100% biodegradable suit made from mushrooms. “My dad discovered it, and was more excited by this than I have ever seen him,” she writes. The family was quick to comply with the “90210” actor’s wishes to be laid to rest in a mushroom suit of his own.

The idea of being buried in a suit made from mushrooms and other microorganisms was coined by company Coeio, whose founder asks the question, “Could mushrooms be the symbol and tool for a cultural shift in how we think about death and our relationship to the planet?”

Known as the Infinity Burial Suit, its materials not only help to decompose the body of the wearer, but act as a catalyst for new life in the burial location. A description by Coeio reads, “The end result of being buried in the Infinity Burial Suit, or any of Coeio’s products, is that bodies are transformed into vital nutrients that enrich the earth and foster new life.”

The suit offers mourners a chance to look at the death of their loved ones as an opportunity to enrich the earth and promote new growth. It also allows for a more sustainable burial, typically unavailable through conventional funeral practices.

Luke Perry was laid to rest in Tennessee last month.
