One flyer hanging in a Taekwondo studio changed two moms’ lives forever. Amanda Hayhurst saw the posting while she was waiting for her son’s class. It was for 50-year-old Vonchelle Knight. The single mom of two had been looking for a kidney for eight years.
But when Amanda, who also has two children, started reading the flyer, she just knew she was the match. Two months of medical testing confirmed that to be true.
Vonchelle has polycystic kidney disease and needs to spend nine hours a day hooked up to a dialysis machine.
Amanda was able to surprise Vonchelle with the news of their match, and she said it was truly an incredible gift that she will always cherish.
