The Kawhi Leonard-to-Knicks speculation hasn't been nearly as intense as the Kevin Durant-to-Knicks talk in recent months, but that doesn't mean it's dead, either.
According to SNY's Ian Begley, some people around Leonard view New York as a potential landing spot for the two-time NBA Finals MVP, who is expected to decline his $21.3 million option with the world champion Toronto Raptors and become a free agent. According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Knicks held a workout for UNC guard Coby White earlier on Thursday. White has been rising on draft board's and the Knicks decided to work him out after holding a workout for Vanderbilt guard Darius Garland on Wednesday. Per SNY's Ian Begley, the Knicks remain committed to RJ Barrett at No. 3 but are just preparing themselves for a potential trade down if he is not there.
On the day of the draft comes more noise on the Kevin Durant front.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, there’s a chance that Durant, recovering from his torn Achilles, could ink a deal with the Warriors — with an eye on playing elsewhere when he makes his eventual return. A delayed sing-and-trade of sorts.
Jeff Goodman reports the New Orleans Pelicans are shopping the No. 4 pick in the draft. He tweets, "New Orleans boss David Griffin trying to get another first-rounder and also a player on a good contract for the No. 4 pick. Told there have been discussions between Pels No. 4 pick and Minnesota involving No. 11 and Robert Covington."
