The Toronto Raptors knocked off the visiting Golden State Warriors, 118-109, on Thursday night in Game 1 of the 2019 NBA Finals. The Raptors limited Steve Kerr’s bunch to a 112.4 offensive rating (points per 100 possessions) while generating their third-highest offensive rating (121.6) of the postseason. Raptors forward Pascal Siakim, who opened the series at 50-1 to win the MVP, notched a team-high 32 points via 14-of-17 shooting (11-of-11 in the second half).

While Warriors guard Steph Curry generated a game-high 34 points, Toronto guard Fred VanVleet limited him to just two points on 29 possessions when the two were matched up (via Second Spectrum). VanVleet’s ball pressure contributed to the Warriors’ flustered offense, which committed 16 total turnovers.

After identiyfing our best bet for the Finals before the series started, here is a look at the plays for Game 2, which tips Sunday night at 8 p.m. ET:

Updated series odds

Warriors -150

Raptors +130

Updated MVP odds

Steph Curry -111

Kawhi Leonard +195

Pascal Siakim +850

Draymond Green +1050

Kevin Durant 22-1

Klay Thompson 36-1

Kyle Lowry 88-1

Game 2 odds

Raptors -1.5 (Over/Under 215)

Raptors -125; Warriors +105

According to Sports Insights, the Warriors are 11-8 against the spread (57.9 percent) under Kerr after a straight-up loss in the playoffs (2015-present). They’re also 10-2 against the first-half spread in those instances.

Expecting Siakim to be just as efficient and the Warriors to shoot as poorly (43.6 percent from the field) in Game 2 is foolish. But with the Warriors’ Kevin Durant (calf injury) expected to return at the midway point of the series and Andre Igoudala banged up after injuring his left leg at the tail end of Game 1, Raptors forward Kawhi Leonard should also manufacture a more well-rounded game (23 points in Game 1 on 5-of-14 shooting), given who's available to guard him.

Nick Nurse’s crew is 5-0 ATS in its past five games -- all straight-up wins -- and I’m expecting that trend to continue.

Initial pick: Raptors -1.5
