We all know you can't give college players cash. Well, everyone but Odell Beckham Jr. knows that.
A video has surfaced from the National Title Game between LSU and Clemson of the former LSU Tiger Odell Beckham Jr. handing out cash to LSU players.
In the video you see Beckham with a stack of cash in his hands postgame handing bills to LSU WR Justin Jefferson.
Obviously, this would be a violation of NCAA rules, but an LSU athletic official said that the cash Beckham was handing out was actually fake money.
"The bills were fake bills," LSU associate athletic director for external communications Robert Munson said, per USA Today. "It was a joke."
Beckham has yet to publicly comment on it.
Perhaps "the joke" was trying to make some sort of statement against the NCAA. After all, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron received a $500,000 bonus for winning the national title while the players receive zilch.
Beckham did, however, reportedly send every LSU player a set of headphones before the game, which is allowed, unlike cash payments.
