(1010 WINS) -- R. Kelly is now facing two new charges -- in Minnesota -- Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Monday afternoon at a press conference in Minneapolis.

R. Kelly has been charged with 2 sex crime counts for incidents allegedly occurring in July 2001, Freeman said.

The victim was a juvenile at the time.

He said the victim alleges that she approached R. Kelly to get an autograph at an event at a mall, and he offered her $200 to dance with him in his hotel room. She also alleges the singer had sexual contact with her. Freeman said, though, "no intercourse" took place.

Freeman said since R. Kelly is in custody in New York City, it is unknown when he would come to Minnesota.

Freeman did add that considering everything else R. Kelly is facing criminally, there may never be a trial in Minnesota.

Still, he said, "We are going to make sure justice happens in Minnesota ... We felt we had more than enough (to bring charges against R. Kelly)."

As to what took so long to come forward, Freeman said the alleged victim was "embarrassed at the time."
