NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Former congressman Ron Paul of Texas -- the father of current Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul -- was hospitalized in Texas Friday for "precautionary" reasons after he appeared to have some sort of medical episode during a livestream about the free market on his YouTube channel, Fox News reported.

"I am doing fine. Thank you for your concern," Paul, 85, tweeted, along with a photo of himself giving the thumbs-up from a hospital bed.

The Twittersphere was first alerted to Paul's condition after Gateway Pundit, in a now-deleted tweete, posted video of Paul slurring his words.

Several lawmakers sent their best wishes to Paul, including fellow Texan, Sen. Ted Cruz, who tweeted, "Heidi & I are lifting up in prayer @RonPaul and @RandPaul and their family. For many decades, he has been an extraordinary warrior for Liberty. May God's healing hand be upon Dr. Paul, and may God's Peace and Grace be upon the entire family."

Alabama congressman Mo Brooks tweeted, "Praying for former congressman and presidential candidate @RonPaul who has been hospitalized. He's a patriot and a fighter."
