Anthony Scaramucci believes that former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and ex-Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz would make "phenomenal presidents" and could defeat President Trump if they ran in 2020.
"I think that the two people who could possibly beat Trump [are] Howard Schultz, or Mayor Bloomberg," the former White House director of communications said on the new episode of his RADIO.com podcast, "Mooch and the Mrs."
Bloomberg, he said, “He’s ready for it. He’s been through it before, on a local level. I thnk Mayor Bloomberg was arguably ... the best mayor of my lifetime."
Scaramucci's wife, Deidre, who was also on the podcast, said, “[Rudy] Giuliani was a good one before he lost his mind.”
He replied, “I don’t think he’s lost his mind. I think there’s strategy in the madness.”
Of billionaire Schultz, he said, "Howard Schultz is qualified to be president. Is he a great leader? No question. Did he build a phenomenal company? Unbelievably so." Scaramucci said Schultz has "a great life story, coming from the city projects and his, what I would say, more or less lower-middle-class upbringing, to where he is today."
"I think Howard Schultz and Mike Bloomberg would make phenomenal presidents," he said.
"Howard Schultz, if I were his campaign advisor, which I’m not -- he’d probably never take any advice from me -- but I would say to him, go hard as a Democrat. You’re very strong on business and you’re left of left on social issues.
"And maybe that could win the party," he said, though added that "the party’s lefter than Hugo Chavez at this point, but if he could win the nomination as a Democrat, you have a shot at beating the president."
Scaramucci warned that Schultz is "ill-prepared, as I was, as a business person, for the political sausage grinder. He’s about to get blind-sided, malayed, and destroyed."
"This is a blood sport. They’ll grind you down into sausage, they’ll case you, and then they’ll start frying you up in a sausage pan."
He quipped, "I have an 11-day Ph.D. on their nonsense. I know what these people are capable of."
