VIDEO: NYC Subway Sign Reads 'RUTH ST' in Tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Someone changed a subway tile at a Manhattan subway station to read “RUTH ST” in honor of late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Video of the altered tile at the 50th Street C/E station in Manhattan was posted to Twitter on Saturday night.

The “50” on the tile had been changed to “RU” to read RUTH.

It’s not known who changed the tile or if the tribute was still up on Sunday.

Ginsburg died at the age of 87 on Friday night.

It isn’t the first time subway signs have been altered to pay tribute to someone who died. Signs at the Franklin Street subway station in Manhattan and the Franklin Avenue station in Brooklyn were changed in honor of Aretha Franklin in 2018.
