New York Mets Expect Big Crowds, Traffic for 'Game of Thrones' Night

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The New York Mets are expecting a big crowd at Citi Field this Saturday, meaning traffic and parking is going to be a huge hassle.

Saturday is “Game of Thrones” Night at the stadium, and the first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead depicting Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard sitting on the Iron Throne.

The figurine is a callback to Syndergaard’s guest appearance on the HBO show as a spear-throwing soldier in the Lannister army in the episode titled “The Spoils of War.”

Fans eager to get their hands on the bobblehead are expected to flood Citi Field early in the day. The team is suggesting using ridesharing or mass transit to get in without a hitch.

LUZIA by Cirque du Soleil is setting up in parking lot C -- the Cirque du Soleil performances will run from May 3 to June 9 -- meaning there will be hundreds of fewer parking spaces available for the game against the Brewers. Saturday is also especially sensitive because of other scheduled events at nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET.
