BOSTON (WEEI.com) -- It wasn't an easy decision, but Julian Edelman ultimately got the nod.
The New England Patriots wide receiver came away with Super Bowl LIII MVP honors after his team beat the Rams 13-3 Sunday night, a game dominated by defense.
Edelman was by far the most consistent performer for the Pats' offense, hauling in 10 receptions for 141 yards. He was targeted 12 times.
He becomes the seventh receiver to win the Super Bowl MVP, joining Lynn Swann, Fred Biletnikoff, Jerry Rice, Deion Branch, Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes.
Other candidates for the Patriots included quarterback Tom Brady (21-for-35, 262 yards), running back Sony Michel (94 yards and the game's only touchdown) and linebacker Dont'a Hightower (two sacks).
