BOSTON (WEEI.com) -- New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski announced his retirement on Sunday night, and the New York Jets aren't too broken up about it.

Jets CEO Christopher Johnson called the move "good news" for the team. Gronkowski scored nine touchdowns against the division rival Jets in his career.

"Look it, it's obviously good news for the Jets because he's an amazing player," Johnson said. "To take a step back, I'm going to miss him as a player because he's absolutely magnificent. If you ever play the game like I do of if I could steal that player off that team, he's one of the top players I've always wished was a Jet. Just an extraordinary man and extraordinary player."

Even though new Jets running back Le'veon Bell tweeted "thank youu for the amazing moments" to Gronkowski, Jets fans agree with Johnson that this is news to celebrate.
