The Bills have been gained some buzz in the national media lately, and it's for all the right reasons. Whether it's former Cleveland Browns All-Pro tackle and current media personality Joe Thomas, Adam Schein of Mad Dog Radio, or Field Yates from ESPN, just to name a few, several national reporters and analysts have come out recently to say they think the Bills will be a much improved team, one to watch, and even contend for a playoff spot in 2019.
CBSSports' Pete Prisco is the latest. And he even took it a step further.
"They're not going to win the division this year," Prisco said this week on his Pick Six podcast with co-host Will Brinson. "They're going to push for a wild card spot. But in 2020, the Buffalo Bills will finally take over and win that division next year, how about that?"
Brinson was a bit surprised by the two-year bold prediction and followed up by asking, "Will Tom Brady play in 2020?"
Prisco responded, "Yeah, but the Bills are going to take the division next year."
So, even with Brady still under center for the Patriots in 2020, Prisco says the Bills will take over the AFC East by the end of the 2020 season.
But what about 2019? Both Prisco and Brinson said they believe the Bills can be a wild card team this coming season and it all starts with QB Josh Allen and head coach Sean McDermott:
Prisco: "Josh Allen is significant better than the perception of him out there. And, yeah, he had some bad throws last year. But he had the most drops of any guy in the league. His offensive line was a disaster. As soon as he put his foot in the ground he took off and ran. And, granted he showed a lot more athletic ability than most people thought, and especially what I thought. I didn't know he could run like that. I thought he could move, I didn't know he could run like that. That's got to stop. He's got to start playing in the pocket. I think the improvements on the offensive line, the improvements around him in the pass-catching game, the guys that they got will really help him. I think (Robert) Foster is going to take a little bit of a step forward this year. I love what the Bills have done, and Sean McDermott told me that at the Combine. He said, 'look, we're going to do everything this offseason to make it better for (Allen).' And they have. Their offensive line will be much better. Their pass catchers will be much better. They should run the better, and he will be better."
Brinson: "And I think their defense is just going to be good because Sean McDermott is a very good defensive coach. They add Ed Oliver. You look at it, it's a really good, underrated blue-collar type of team. I like the Bills."
Prisco: "And McDermott gets them to play hard. They play hard. You can tell that they respect him and they play for him."
Bills fans certainly hope Prisco is right about 2020, and wouldn't mind if that happened a year earlier than he expects.
