Saints Reportedly Ready to Transition to Taysom Hill if Drew Brees Retires

Another Saints season has come and gone, and at the end of every year the same question surfaces: Will Drew Brees return or retire?

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer says regardless what Drew decides, the Saints feel they are in good hands with Taysom Hill.

“It’s the Saints or nobody," Glazer said Monday about Brees on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. "And Sean Payton has already said, 'Yeah, if he wants back, he's back.' Like, it's not a question in his mind. It's just, the question of what Drew wants to do."

Glazer also said that if Brees does retire, Payton has his plan.

"They do have their quarterback of the future on the roster too. That quarterback will be Taysom Hill."

Brees says that he will focus on spending time with his family then make a decision on returning in about "a month or so."

The 41-year-old Brees will be an unrestricted free agent. Brees ended last season as the NFL's all-time passing yardage leader.

Hill has been more of a Swiss Army knife at the quarterback position. Last season, he attempted just six passes and completed three for 55 yards, while rushing for 27 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.

In the Saints' playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings, Hill completed a 50-yard pass while also rushing for 50 yards on four attempts and caught a touchdown pass as a receiver.
