July 28th, 2020 at 2PM - Governor Ralph Northam announces new restrictions in Hampton Roads area effective July 31, 2020 at 12AM:
No alcohol sold or consumed on-site after 10pm.
All restaurants must close by midnight.
Indoor dining at 50% capacity
Public and private gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited (indoor and outdoor).
June 23rd, 2020 at 2PM - Governor Ralph Northam announces Virginia will enter Phase 3 on July 1st, 2020:
Masks are STILL required.
Non-Essential retail will open.
Restaurants and beverage services will open.
Gyms and fitness centers still remain open at limited capacity.

June 9th, 2020 at 2PM - Governor Ralph Northam announces Virginia schools will reopen this fall, but with restrictions.
Schools will reopen with a three-phase process:
Phase one is expected to be mostly remote instruction (exceptions will be made for students with disabilities)
Phase two will include mostly remote instruction with in-person class for preK-3, English language learners, some camps. It was noted that most schools are ready to do this right now.
Phase three means that in-person instruction resumes with restrictions

June 2, 2020 at 2PM - Governor Ralph Northam announces that most of Virginia will be moving into Phase Two on Friday, June 5th, 2020.
-50 percent capacity for indoor seating in restaurants
-30 percent capacity for indoor gym classes and work outs.
-Pools can open, but there will be restrictions.
-Zoos and museums can open, but there will be restrictions.
-No shared equipment for recreational sports.
-Social gatherings limited to 50 people.

May 26, 2020 at 2PM - Governor Ralph Northam issued a statewide mask mandate. The mandate begins on Friday, May 29, 2020.
Face covering requirements are mandated for everyone age 10+ and must be worn in the following places:
Inside ALL brick and mortar retail establishments.
Inside ALL personal care and grooming establishments.
Inside places where people congregate.
Inside food and beverage establishments,
On public transportation.
When accessing state or local government services.
EXCEPTIONS include:
While eating or drinking.
While exercising.
If you have trouble breathing or are unable to remove the mask without help.
If your health conditions prohibit wearing a face covering.
If you are under the age of 10 (Governor Northam spoke on this, stating, "Let me speak to you as a doctor. I strongly recommend any child who is three years old or older, should wear a face covering to the extent possible."
May 8, 2020 at 2PM - Governor Ralph Northam laid out guidelines for Phase One of reopening Virginia, which MAY begin on Friday, May 15th
Personal grooming retail - which includes salons, barber shops, spas, massage parlors, tanning salons, tattoo shop - can reopen in Phase One, but by appointment-only and at 50% capacity. Both the provider and the client must wear face coverings during service and any service that would require its removal (lip wax, facial, beard trimming) is prohibited. Waiting areas are also prohibited and there 6 feet between clients.
Nonessential retail stores, many of which were limited to no more than 10 people inside, can open in Phase One at 50% capacity and with social distancing inside, plus employees wearing masks and increased sanitation.
Recreation and entertainment venues - such as bowling alleys, theaters and music venues - must stay closed.
Gyms and fitness centers cannot open inside, but can host outdoor classes, with a limit of 10 or fewer people in the class and at least 10 feet between people.
Restaurants and breweries cannot open their dining or tasting rooms, but they can use their patios at 50% capacity and with 6 feet between parties - provided the patio is at least 6 feet away from the sidewalk or any public area. Restaurant employees must wear masks and restaurants must use disposable menus.
Churches can reopen at 50% capacity and with increased sanitation.
Beaches will remain closed except for exercise or fishing; outdoor swimming pools may open, but for lap swimming-only with a limit of one person per lane.
A 10-person limit on social gatherings - enforceable as misdemeanor - remains in place, as does the recommendation for wearing masks in public and telework for professional businesses.
