Dolly Parton’s rendition of “Burry Me Beneath the Willow,” brought host Stephen Colbert to tears during her appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Tuesday.

The “Jolene” singer spread her velvety falsetto notes across the lyrics of the bluegrass classic. “Oh, bury me under the weeping willow. Yes, under the weeping willow tree. So he may know where I am sleeping,” she sang out to Colbert over video chat.

Miles of separation couldn’t stop Dolly’s voice from penetrating Stephen's emotions, as the talk show host lifted his iconic glasses and shed tears. “Like a lot of Americans, I’m under a lot of distress right now,” Colbert admitted while wiping his eyes. “That was pretty beautiful.”

Parton also promoted her new book "Songteller: My Life in Lyrics.” The project explains her love for story telling through music and how the process is her form of “therapy.”

Further into the interview, Dolly shared which artist rendition of her writing made the biggest impression. “When Whitney Houston did ‘I Will Always Love You,’ a song that I wrote that was just simple, sweet, little heartfelt song, and she took it and made it so big, and so beautiful,” she said. “When I heard that, I couldn’t believe it was my song.”

Colbert also mentioned Parton’s latest Christmas album “A Holly Dolly Christmas,” and pointed to guest vocals from fellow late-night host Jimmy Fallon. “You’re breaking my heart, Dolly,” Stephen said to the Country legend.

“He asked me years ago if I would sing on his show ‘All I Want for Christmas is You.’ I thought I would put it in the album. So I called him and asked ‘You still want to sing that song?’ So we did that,” Dolly responded with a chuckle.

The seasonal album made it to the number one spot on Billboard's Top Country Albums and Top Holiday Albums charts dated October 17, the outlet reports.
