Megan Panzera and her husband, Valdo, are celebrating the birth of their first child after he survived the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history while inside his mother's belly at the Route 91 Country Music Festival.

Valdo Panzera III was born on June 3rd. His parents say he is the youngest survivor of the Las Vegas shooting which happened the night of October 1st, 2017.

Mom Megan was about a month along in her pregnancy and was feeling tired the night of the festival, so the couple sat in the bleachers far away from the stage. That decision ultimately saved their lives when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire, killing more than 50 people and injuring hundreds of others.

“We call him a superhero because If it wasn’t for him, things would be much different -- we would have been in the front," says Meghan.

Valdo remembers the chaos of everyone running for safety during the attack and says he felt a bullet fly past him. "I went into father-mode," says Valdo. "I realized this is my family, and I have to do what I have to do to protect them -- to make sure we get out of there safe."

The couple now says they plan to tell their son about the shooting when he's old enough, but for now they’re staying close to home and haven’t been to another concert since the attack.
