Firefighter Nurses Injured Bird Found On Firehouse Floor Back To Health

Thanks to this firefighter’s bird’s eye view, he was able to save a helpless animal!

Firefighter paramedic Dave Schurwan came across an unresponsive bird on the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District's engine bay floor, so he immediately went to work to save the ruby-throated hummingbird and nursed it back to health.

The Department posted images of the rescue on Facebook saying "Dave used a syringe filled with sugar water to coax the bird to drink until it became more alert and flew out of his palm."

What a high-flying way to save the day!
