These first responders not only saved Gene’s life --- but also his beloved lawn!

Paramedics and firefighters of Pasco County, Florida were called to the home of Gene Work who had suffered a heart attack while laying down sod for his lawn.

After taking care of the Florida father and bringing him to the hospital, the trucks headed back to the scene to finish what gene started. Seven EMTs and firefighters laid down the rest of the turf to the astonishment of Gene’s family.

His wife Melissa said her husband wouldn’t stop worrying about the sod during his heart attack because it dies quickly if it’s not planted.

She was honored to meet the people who went above their job description and said, “We got to meet our heroes. They are now family.”

All in a day's work for these first responders who were ready to go above and beyond the call of duty.
