Spa time can go a long way when it comes to your mental and physical health. With holiday season fast approaching, all-natural, eco-friendly items can be a great way to treat yourself or even the ones you love.
Here are 4 simple and natural recipes that can give you a fabulous Zero Waste Spa Day, compiled by the Eco-Friendly Adventurer. Turn off your phone, and let the pampering begin as you become good to yourself and the environment.
Hair Mask
All you need are 2 ingredients for healthier hair.
—2 tbls coconut oil - helps protect from damage & breakage w/ vitamins and fatty acid to grow thicker & healthier hair
—1 tbls apple cider vinegar - helps reduce frizz and add shine
Directions:
—Mix these two ingredients together
—Apply evenly throughout your hair
—Leave on for around 15 minutes while you relax
—Wash out thoroughly
Face Mask
Another simple and natural mask for your face. It can be paired with a hair mask / bath time. It nourishes, exfoliates and cleans the skin, a plus for anti-aging skincare.
—2 tbls oats – mixed in a food processor
—1 tbls soy yogurt / regular yogurt
Directions:
—Mix ingredients together
—Use your hands to apply evenly over your face
—Leave on 10 - 15 minutes
—Wash off thoroughly
—Apply moisturizer
Exfoliating Scrub
Out with the old and in with the new. Old coffee grinds can take away dead skin while helping with circulation, reducing cellulite and scarring.
2 tbls coffee grinds
1-2 drops essential oil of choice (vanilla or lavender)
1 tbls water
Directions:
—Mix these together
—Use your hands to rub the scrub gently over your body
—Apply moisturizer
Using non pore clogging oils can be great to hydrate and nourish skin.
—3 tbls shea butter
—1 1/2 tbls avocado oil
—1 drop lavender oil
—2 drops rose oil
Step One:
—Put a pan with a small amount of water over heat. Leave to boil.
—Once boiling, reduce to simmer.
—Place 3 tbls of shea butter over the pan, and stir consistently until it's melted.
Step Two:
—Add in the avocado oil to the melted shea butter and stir
—Add the other oils. 1 drop of lavender & 2 drops of rose
Step Three:
—Place the mixture in the freezer for 15 minutes / thin crust will be on top when taken out
—With a hand-whisk, whisk the mixture until creamy
Step Four:
—Put your moisturizer in an air-tight container. Use as needed. Enjoy!
Let your mind and body enjoy the natural loving care you have given it. Treat yourself to a favorite snack. Do what makes you happy. Release the tension and relax.
