The Raiders might regret trading away Khalil Mack for a while, but they have to go with what they got. Jon Gruden is here for a decade, so Raiders fans are going to have to be patient. The Broncos went out and got a solid veteran QB in Case Keenum in the offseason to go along with their top 10 defense. They came out with a tight 27-24 win at home in Week 1.
Derek Carr is going to need to avoid making rookie mistakes with some of his throws. He had a couple bad picks last week, including one that it looked like he was trying to throw out of bounds, but instead floated it in bounds for an easy INT. If Carr isn’t going to get better with that massive contract the Raiders gave him, they will be in trouble. Without Mack, their defense also doesn’t have that anchor anymore. Gruden will have reinforcements Sunday though as Martavis Bryant is back with the team and expected to play...in Mile High Stadium.
Keenum threw for 324 yards and three TDs in his first Broncos start Sunday but also threw three INTs. We know about his targets in Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas, but their running game was the big question mark. Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay both played well in their first NFL game, each running for 71 yards. Expect Von Miller and the defense to try and force Carr into some more bad decisions Sunday in Denver.
