Both the Texans and Titans failed to impress in their Week 1 losses. The Texans hope Deshaun Watson will improve upon his slow start as he returns from a torn ACL last season. The Titans are hoping that Marcus Mariota is good to play and be successful after leaving their marathon, delayed game against the Dolphins with an elbow injury. These are the two teams expected to challenge the Jaguars for the AFC South title.

Deshaun Watson and the Texans offense were not good at all against the Patriots. With that being said, they only lost 27-20 as they somehow stayed in the game. Watson was 17-for-34 for 176 yards, a TD, and an INT in his first game back. It’s going to take more than one game for Watson to get back in a rhythm, but the Texans are hopeful. Watson was on his way to a potential NFL MVP award before he tore his ACL last season. The Texans will need him to improve quickly because a 0-2 start to the season is on the line against their division foe.
While Mariota should play, the Titans have to be a bit cautious. Blaine Gabbert is one of the worst backup QBs in the NFL and if he has to play for an extended period of time, the Titans playoff hopes could be flushed down the toilet. Mariota threw for two picks while he was on the field, but Dion Lewis showed early that he’s going to be a huge factor in the rushing and passing attack. The Titans will need those short dump offs and screen passes to become big plays if they want to pick up their first win Sunday in their home opener.
