Aldo Amenta defied all the odds and walked across the stage to receive his diploma from Florida International University.
The Venezuelan student was paralyzed after sustaining a very serious spinal cord injury when diving into a pool three years ago.
Normally he uses a wheelchair. But to accept his diploma, he walked with the help of an exoskeleton.
It took hours of practice with the tool, but Amenta says it was all worth it.
"That is just amazing to be able to take those steps towards something that important even though whatever happened to me that didn’t make me stop and make me achieve and fulfill my dreams," Amenta says.
Now with a degree in electrical engineering, he’s going to continue his studies to pursue a master's.
