Same-Sex Penguin Couple Is Raising Their Very First Chick

This same-sex penguin couple, "Sphen" and "Magic", are celebrating a very special delivery, welcoming their first baby chick named "Sphengic" at the Sydney Aquarium in Australia.

Staff at the aquarium say they love watching the doting parents care for their little one.

The Gentoo penguins first showed their parental skills by incubating a test egg. Then they fostered a real one from another couple, who had two. During the chick’s first five to six weeks, the baby boy is fed up to ten times a day, and once he’s big enough he'll begin taking swimming lessons. (Can you say "penguin kindergarten?)

We can’t wait to watch the adorable little guy grow with his loving new family!
