Rowdy, a school service dog, is just like any other student -- even on picture day. The diabetic alert dog for 10-year-old Daegen Welch flashed his huge grin while donning a bow tie for their Louisiana school yearbook.
This isn’t the first time the pooch has gotten a formal portrait, but Daegen’s mom, Monique Chaffin, says this one is the best.
"The past two years we’ve had to go for retakes because the first ones came out not so good…This is their last year at this school. I just wanted to make sure he had a good picture. "
Daegen and Rowdy love hanging out, whether they’re on vacation or dressing up for the holidays, but at school he’s all business.
"Rowdy was scent trained to alert when her blood sugar is too high or too low. And he will come and hit you with his paw and let you know that she needs to check, check her blood sugar, " Chaffin says.
Rowdy is definitely making the grade, and we think he’s a shoo in for a best smile superlative.
