Zoo Cares For Hundreds Of Sea Turtles After Hurricane Disrupts Ocean Waters

A Florida zoo is caring for nearly 300 sea turtles, after Hurricane Leslie disrupted their waters.

The Brevard Zoo temporarily took in the green and loggerhead sea turtles, until the ocean water conditions improve.

When sea turtles hatch, they need large amounts of floating seaweed to provide them with energy and food. If that resource is damaged by a storm, they’ll be faced with a dire situation.

Once the sea life returns to normal, the zoo says that the hundreds of sea turtles will return by boat to the open ocean.
