The North Texas Poison Center wants to make something very clear: drinking bleach will not prevent catching coronavirus.

Nearly 50 Texans had to be treated for various ailments after they ingested the chemical in order to kill coronavirus. The poison center blames "misleading and inaccurate information circulating online about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” for the rise in poisonings, reported CBS DFW.

The Poison Center noted that they've seen a 71% increase in cases involving bleach products.

While you can definitely reduce the potential spread of the virus by wiping down high-touch surfaces in your home, but drinking bleach, or other chlorine dioxide products, can lead to “severe vomiting, severe diarrhea, life-threatening low blood pressure caused by dehydration, and acute liver failure," according to the FDA.

"POISON ALERT! Do not ingest bleach or other disinfectant products," Texas Poison Control tweeted. "It does not prevent or give you protection against the coronavirus, and can be dangerous."

Do not drink bleach, ever!
