It was an emotional night for Lauren Alaina on this week's Dancing With The Stars. Lauren and her partner Gleb Savchenko were picked to end the show, and what a heartfelt end it was. The dance fell on the anniversary of the passing of her stepfather Sam, who died last year after a short battle with cancer.
Laruen and Gleb danced a Contemporary to Lauren's own song, "The Other Side," that was written for Sam. Throughout the whole routine, Lauren was dancing with her emotions on her sleeve. You could easily see her dancing through the tears, and it made for a beautiful performance. After the dance finished, Lauren immediately ran to embrace her mother, with the audience giving her a very loud and emotional standing ovation.
During the judges' comments, Carrie Ann and Len both called Lauren "brave" for tackling such a sensitive topic during her routine. Bruno said, "it's very sad, but actually it makes me happy to see so much love, truth and honesty."
Lauren's routine earned a score from the judges of 25 of 30. Combined with last week, because no one went home on Disney night, she had a 49 of 60. When it came down to revealing the "bottom two," Lauren and Gleb were the first to be marked "safe" and will be dancing next week. That's probably a good thing. It would have been tough to handle that emotional roller coaster too.
The "bottom two" were Ally Brooke and Shasha and Sailor Brinkley-Cook and Val. In the end, it was revealed that Sailor and Val were going home, with Sailor very emotional over the decision.
