Witness this major milestone for little Ayla - the one-year-old can now hear sounds for the very first time.

Ayla Esler was born deaf and has gone through months of speech therapy before undergoing an intensive surgery to receive cochlear implants at the Cook Children’s Hospital in Texas.

Once the implants were activated, there were tears of joy and sighs of relief from all - but especially Ayla’s parents, as they witness their daughter hear for the first time ever.

Soon she will be able to listen to music and know the sound of laughter. But perhaps most importantly, Ayla can finally hear her parents say 'I love you.'
