First-grade teacher Kimber Bermudez didn't expect a casual conversation on a plane to turn into a fundraising opportunity for her school.
While she was talking about her first-grade students who come from low-income families in Chicago with her seatmate, who happened to work for a company that likes to donate to schools, another man behind her tapped her on the shoulder and handed over $500 dollars in cash for her to "do something amazing." Two other passengers also chipped in at the end of the flight.
When she finally counted the money, there was $530 -- all from strangers!
Kimber says she plans to use the donations to buy books for her students and back-to-school gear like backpacks and other supplies to start the new year off on a high note! Be sure to read her full post on Facebook by clicking below.
