U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Carl Otto Jr grew up with his grandmother Maria all of his life and since being deployed to Fort Lee, Virginia for training he has been preparing an epic surprise for her.

With his grandfather and sister's help, Otto set up a large box in the family driveway and climbed in when she was on her way home from shopping. Maria was reluctant at first to help with lifting the box, but eventually, the whole family revealed Otto leaving Maria stunned.

"The first day I got to Virginia I told her a date that was two months later than when I was actually coming home," Otto tells Radio.com. "I kept the secret for that long. It was hard but worth it."

In the description for his video posted to YouTube, Otto explains how she had been counting down the days to a way later date than when he was actually coming home, "and it worked out perfectly."
