Denver’s holiday spirit is on display for everyone to see throughout November and December from downtown to Cherry Creek to the Denver Zoo. Head out to see some of the city’s beautiful light displays and holiday cheer at these family-friendly events.
Stop by the Cherry Creek Mall for the annual tree lighting ceremony. The 60-foot Christmas tree will be illuminated along with performances from the Beverly Belles and the Dickens Carolers and plentiful kettle corn and hot cocoa for everyone in attendance.

Denver’s downtown landmarks will sparkle and for the first time, the display in Union Station will be accompanied by a Christmas tree. Take in the rest of the show featuring hundreds of thousands of lights as you walk through the 16th Street Mall, Lamers Square and Skyline Park.

Grab a warm drink for your stroll through the colorfully lit garden. Thousands of sound reactive lights will be set up to put on a show, changing colors and patterns in time with a medley of your favorite Christmas carols.

A Denver holiday tradition, floats, giant balloons, and marching bands all make their way through downtown Denver set against the backdrop of the city’s festive holiday lights and a beautiful night sky.

Over 60 acres will shine with over one million lights and animated animal sculptures in Zoo Lights’ 28th year. You can even add a giraffe encounter to your experience. Make sure to get your tickets ahead of time, because sellouts are a regular occurrence and they are rarely available at the door.

See the lights of the city and get a local history lesson at the same time. The evening starts with a quick program on Denver’s holiday traditions at the History Colorado Center. Then it’s on to (warm!) bus to tour some of the city’s beautiful and historic neighborhoods. The museum designs a different route every year, so even if you’ve been on the tour before there will be something new for you.

Throughout the holiday season, enjoy the Downtown Denver Rink at Skyline Park, where visitors can check out the lights, rent a pair of skates and hit the ice, and listen to DJs (like DJ Chonz, every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.).
