Splish splash, these elephants are just enjoying their bath!
The lovable animals at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens are getting their summer started early with an adorable pool party.
According to the zoo, elephants are especially keen of the water and are also excellent swimmers -- and judging by the smiles on their faces when they got to splash around this week, we see what they mean!
Especially on hot days, pools are important to help the elephants cool off since they don’t have the ability to keep their temperature down like humans do when they sweat.
Along with a video posted to YouTube, the zoo explains: "Our elephants don't have to wait for Memorial Day weekend, their pool is officially open for the summer!
"Cooling off in a pool on hot days is helpful because elephants don't have the ability to sweat. They also flap their large ears to cool the blood vessels across the ear which then circulates throughout the body."
But besides the science behind their activity, what’s not fun about a pool party?! Happy summer!
