Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak’s relationship is the gift that keeps on giving.

The duo, who met on the set of "The Office," have been best friends for more than a decade.

During an interview with Jenna Bush Hager on TODAY, the actress opened up about their close bond and how he's the godfather to her children.

"You know, he said the funniest thing because he's so attached to my older child, my daughter," Kaling said.

"When I said, you know, 'B.J., if something happens to me, it's not like I have a husband, like you have to just take the kids.' And he's like 'Oh, my God, don't tempt me,” she added.

Kaling said that Novak has a very close relationship with her daughter and takes his role as godfather seriously.

"He said the funniest thing, he was like, 'Can you sue for god-paternity rights?'" Kaling said. "... He just loves her so much."

Earlier this month, Kaling announced that she secretly gave birth to son, Spencer, while isolating during the COVID pandemic.

"I'm telling this for the first time, it feels so strange," she told Stephen Colbert in the virtual chat. “I gave birth to a baby boy on September 3."

A shocked Colbert responded: "No one even knew you were pregnant!"

"I know," said “The Mindy Project” star, adding, “this is news to a lot of people, it's true."

She's also a mom to 2-year-old Katherine, who she nicknamed Kit.

She has not publicly revealed the paternity of her children.

“My feeling is that until I speak to my daughter about that, I'm not going to talk to anyone else about it," she explained in an interview with The New York Times from 2019.

Kaling and Novak met in 2004 and dated on-and-off for a couple of years before splitting in 2007.

Kaling addressed their relationship in her second book, "Why Not Me?" and called Novak her "soup snake," a reference to a malapropism in an episode of "The Office" where Steve Carell's character mistakenly calls his love interest that instead of his soul mate.
