On Wednesday, Brett Favre told Rich Eisen that the Green Bay Packers sent Aaron Rodgers “a message of disrespect” in trading up to take Jordan Love in the NFL Draft. Favre said that Rodgers “has every right to be disappointed” and predicted that he will not finish his career in Green Bay.
At this point, it’s hard to disagree with any of that.
“This is just a matter of time before something explodes,” Tiki Barber said on Tiki & Tierney. “Whether it’s Aaron, whether it’s LaFleur – who knows what it is? But they better have guessed right with Jordan Love. I’m not going to judge one way or another whether the Packers are right or Aaron Rodgers is right. But they better have guessed right with Jordan Love – because if they didn't, this thing is going to get ugly in Green Bay and people are going to lose their jobs.”
Brandon Tierney agrees, in part because of Rodgers’ temperament and in part because of LaFleur’s inexperience. That is, without question, a combustible combination.
“This is over,” Tierney said. “This is over. This is just a matter of when those divorce papers actually go to court and they get stamped and it says ‘Done.’ This is over. LeFleur doesn’t have the experience to deal with the maelstrom of controversy and attention that is going to be coming his way. This is stuff you can’t prepare for.”
