NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. (WCBS 880) — This is a call police likely don't get too often.
Nassau County Police said a woman called 911 around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday after she found a bearded dragon under a garbage can on Lake Drive in New Hyde Park.
The lizard was found to be catatonic so officers put it in a container and brought the reptile to their patrol car for warmth.
A short time later, the bearded dragon starting moving again.
Officers had no luck locating the owner, so they brought it to a wildlife rehabilitator, who said the lizard appears to be in good condition and well fed.
Anyone with information regarding the owner can contact the Third Precinct at 516-573-6300.
