A dog is a man’s most loyal companion.

That statement couldn’t be more true for Cemal Senturk and his dog, Boncuk, who patiently waited outside of a hospital in Northeastern Turkey for his owner to be discharged.

According to CNN, Senturk was taken by ambulance to Medical Park Hospital in Trabzon on January 14. Somehow, his dog managed to escape from the apartment and followed the vehicle.

Then, he proceeded to spend the next six days waiting for his owner.

Hospital staff called Senturk’s family to let them know about the four-legged friend’s escape.

However, that didn’t stop Boncuk, who somehow managed to escape again. The hospital stated that his family did not know how Boncuk kept escaping, but where there’s a will, there’s a way.

"Even though the family (took) Boncuk back home she managed to escape every day to wait at the hospital gate,” the hospital's international patient center director, Murat Ercan, said in a statement to the outlet.

Ercan admitted that the hospital staff grew fond of Boncuk and made sure the pup was fed and taken care of.

“Boncuk has behaved really sweet during the six days and has managed to capture the love and affection of the whole staff,” Ercan noted.

But Boncuk wasn’t the only one missing her owner – the feeling was mutual.

Senturk reportedly didn’t want his dog to worry, so he tried to communicate with the pup through the window daily.

"Cemal Senturk has been with Boncuk for nine years and he also stated that he missed her a lot during his stay at the hospital," Ercan said.

Their reunion was just as sweet as Boncuk’s gesture. Ercan revealed that after Senturk was cleared to go home, he “met his dog at the hospital gate.”
